IN THIS MOMENT

In THIS moment

It appears there is not much I can do

But that's just an illusion

To discourage me and you

But in THIS moment

I can pray for God to still my restless soul

Pray that He makes someone emotionally well and whole

I can pray that my family reaches their goals

And that in His will our plans unfold

In THIS moment

I can dispel all doubt

I can ponder about all that I can do without

I can remember friends who saw their way out

Or choose to remember their kindnesses or be angry and pout

In THIS moment

I can pray about my attitudes; whether the words I said built up or destroyed;

Or I can choose to forgive someone who downright disrespected and regarded me as a toy

In THIS moment

I can choose to stand on top

And sit down gracefully or with a heavy "I'm-sick-of-it-all" plop

In THIS moment

I can pray Satan's kingdoms down

Reflect on God's goodness

And change to a smile from a frown

In THIS moment

I can remember a kind face,

A kind word or a warm and gentle embrace

In THIS moment

I can pray on how to be more generous

How to help someone less fortunate;

I can pray for someone plagued by recurring ill health

And pray that God would grant them healing, favor and wealth

In THIS moment

I can pray for someone to have a change of heart

And that they would release someone to be able to join with

And have their own spouse

In THIS moment

I can pray for someone who has experienced a death

And pray that the Master holds them close upon His breast

In THIS moment

I can pray for a child whose been abused

For someone whose been beaten, for someone whose been tossed aside and used

In THIS moment

I can turn around and forgive

A perpetrator who physically or spiritually raped me

So I can move on and live

In THIS moment

I can choose to forgive again

An ex-husband or boyfriend whose words cut deep

Who left me with little or nothing and openly scorned me

In THIS moment

I can choose to raise a child without his father

And to the best of my ability make our lives worth while

Or, I can batten down the hatches and accept mediocrity

And not the joy of being able to leave a lasting powerful legacy

In THIS moment

I can bless or curse

I can say "woe is me" or declare "It could always be worse"

In THIS moment

I can choose to play with my child and brighten his day,

Or mope around endlessly

And reflect upon my yesterdays

In THIS moment

I can sing or meditate on a song

And think on happiness, peace and love for a time long

In THIS moment

I can choose to help a friend

Who's going through a hard time

And think it's their end

So you see

Ol' girl, there is a lot you can do in a moment

What will you choose to do

With your "in THIS moments?"
